Well...tomorrow will be a week since we switched over to the new system and I have to say, I pretty much got the hang of it. I still need to be waving my big yellow help sign every so often but its becoming less and less and thats a nice feeling.
The only thing that is frustrating, is what was once second nature in how things are handled outside the program, are new and different ways and having to figure out what to do next to take care of a issue. But like the old, the new will become second nature as well. I do have to say, I can not wait for my weekend off. It is well deserved! Besides..its pay day and I got a nice fat check coming. Got to love commission checks! LOL
Was playing with my camera tonight....a few pics of your favorite Nik!
I knew it was coming and I was actually looking forward to it for as long as I have worked at my job. For those who have been with me since I started my job a year ago, know that I have been working with a DOS system. It took me months to find my groove but now that I am there, I literally wanted to dig my heels in the floor and shout NO! NO! NO!, hugging my computer and throwing a fit when we began our conversion to the new system today.
I think each one of us walked out of work with a headache today lol The new system will be great in a few months once we are comfortable and know what the hell we are doing. We pretty much got a weeks worth on training and got thrown to the crowd to fend for ourselves. The new system, with just a click of your mouse across the screen will make every thing we need to do much faster but I have a feeling my fingers are going to feel reallllll restless. They are use to flying across a keyboard 8 hours a day. What shall I do?????
Ok ok...It wasn't alllll that bad. It was confusing for the first few hours but as the day went on, less hands were flying in the air for help. We didn't have full use of the new program and won't till Monday morning but it let us do what had to be done. I will just be busy for the next few days after the weekend to go and enter orders that were put down on paper today.
Other work related things:
The coffee sucks there. It really does. Its coffee from a vending machine and it tastes like crap. (not that I know what that taste like) but just trust me on this one. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but there are days I need the stuff to get me through a day. So if I want to drink it, I had to do something to shake it up a bit. The last shopping trip I did, I bought 2 new creamer flavors I never had. One word. Yummy.
Last month we had a friendly bet going on with the team beside us at work. Whoever made the most sales by the end of the month was the winner of course and the loser, wellll, the Supervisor had to wear a chicken costume for the day.
Sadly, my team lost and our poor Supervisor had to wear the costume. He was in great spirits though and after getting some clearance (without his knowledge) us girls, as a team went to the big boss and asked if we could all wear yellow T-shirts to support him and he granted us the permission.
Sooooo, when our Supervisor came into work (he gets their later then the rest of us) he found his team sitting together, all wearing yellow T-shirts and whooting and hollaring and supporting him as he strutted around as a chicken. It was a awesome day...lots of laughs and good humor and he did it all in stride. We may have lost but we didn't let the other team beat us down!
Here's a picture of our Supervisor and one of the girls from my team.
They started a new commission system at work and it seemed like a good one. You can either make 10%, 20% or 30%, depending on what bracket you fell into. I am not much of a sales person and thats only 10% of what my job is but for the month of March, I decided I was going to meet my goal plus. At least try to apply myself a little more towards the sells part of my job.
Well I did it. I met my goal for the month (the one they would like you to reach and avoids a little pep talk from your team leader lol) and plus. I was happy that I avoided the 5% commission. I gave myself a pat on the back and went about my day. I'm getting 10% and I was happy with that -nods-
I get a email today. They have updated our monthly sales with all the $5 sales we get per account we put on another 2 yr contract for the month. Looking at the email, I sold $250 more ( 50 accounts I grabbed) and that was all good and stuff. Till I saw where that put me for my monthly sales.....
$2.31 dollars away of making 20% 20%!!!!! A difference of a extra $200.00 on my commission check!!
Blah.....I was sick to my stomach for about a hour.
But thats okay. I will make that 20% this month. Now that I know I can do it...I will be disppointed in myself if I don't get that 20% this month LOL.
You can do it Nik!!!!
It started out like any other Saturday for me. Well for the last 2 Saturdays that is anyways. I love working on Saturdays at my job. Its very casual unlike the rest of the week where its all about looking Business wise and only about a 4th of us work and we can let loose a bit. Of course, doesn't mean we can slack in our work but hey...we can be comfortable though! One good thing about today, it wasn't as busy as it usually is and I welcomed that with open arms and took the time to catch up with my work from the past week.
So there I was, in a middle of a call and assisting a customer with her issue and working on making a sale. The next thing I know, the room lights start flashing on and off and a piercing wail starts going off. Freak the hell out of me and my customer and I stood up to see what was going on. Although everyone was standing up as well, no one seemed to be in a panic so I went back to customer to finish my call.
Just as I finished with her, I get a tap on my shoulder. We were all being led out the building. Even at this point, I had no clue what was going on and just followed everyone out. It wasn't till I got out to the parking lot and located a few friends of mine that I found out that there was smoke. Couldn't I smell it? They asked me. Ummm no...Not at all.
Images of the building going up in smoke flashed my in head and wondering how long I'd be out of work this time around LOL The Fire Department come flying in and being the Hero's that they are, rushed in to do some inspecting. After about 10 mins of them being there, they come out to say all was clear. A huge cheer went up in the air and began to march back in the building. Hearing bits and pieces of what the problem was.
Someone burned a bag of popcorn in the break room.
How the hell did I miss that? First off....I can't stand the smell of Microwave popcorn and one of the worst smells in the world (to me anyways) is burnt popcorn.
I can see the next memo come Monday.....
ATTENTION EMPLOYEES!
There will be no more popping popcorn during work hours!
